V Magazine had photographers Inez van Lamsweerde & Vinoodh Matadin shoot 34 of the top models to date. Everyone from Shalom Harlow to Natasha Poly. Only a small batch of the photo's are available for view right now, you can see the complete collection by click on the image below. Of coarse I love the photo of Christy and Snejana. Sadly Hillary Rhoda's photo has not been released yet. I must say the both Christy and Nejana look better not made up!
Hubert de Givenchy's inspiration has left the Paris resort collections and landed at Oscar de la Renta's Resort 2007 collection in New York. While de la Renta favored last seasons black and white palette, this season it was his shocking color looks that jumped. The tailoring and overall silhouette can be attributed to classic Givenchy from the 50's and even 60's.
The highlight of Oscar de la Renta's resort collection, the prints! Oscar showed a large number of different prints and in a wide selections of themes. From geometric prints in black and white to soft floral prints on pale tangerine silk chiffon or pale pink silk organdy. On a side note, if I see one more ruffle next season I am going pound the floor like a little kid. My favorite pick from the collection is a sleeveless floor length a-line tangerine silk taffeta gown. Stunning. I am actually liking this move toward classic lines and clean fabrics.

Fashion Icon, Stylist, Editor, Visionary and Muse, Isabella Delves Broughton Blow died yesterday, May 6th, 2007 of cancer, according to her husband Detmar Blow’s spokesperson. Last year Isabella suffered injuries from a fall and was absent from the fashion world briefly. Blow’s husband has commented in the past that she had suffered from depression, but this cancer news makes more sense. The passing of Isabella Blow is a great loss for the Fashion World! She was one of the greatest fashion visionaries of the last 30 years. We don’t have to mention the names of the countless number of today’s designers that were blessed with the friendship or the creative mentorship of Isabella Blow. There will be a big bruise on the Spring/Summer 2008 runways of London, Paris and Milan. With love for Isabella Blow
An end of an great Era is coming, On Sunday, April 15th, 2007 socialite and humanitarian Pat Buckley died of septic poisoning following a vascular operation on her left leg. She passed away at her home in Stamford, Connecticut. She is survived by her husband William f. Buckley, their son Christopher and two grand children. She is one the great style muses of the twenty century and a faithful couture client to the likes of Pierre Cardin, Yves St. Laurent and Hubert di Givenchy and American master Bill Blass. Her closest and best friends include the late Nan Kempner and C.Z Guest as well as Nancy Kissenger, Nancy Reagan, Betsy Blomingdale, Annette De la Renta, Mica Ertegun and Judy Peabody. She will be missed but her legacy will live on not only through her family but the strong presence she's left behind in the world of fashion and culture. Most certainly her couture closet will be making its way to the MET Costume Institute since she along with Nan Kempner chaired the board at the MET for over 3 decades. Miles Socha at WWD reported today that Dior Homme is ending their contract with designer Hedi Slimane. Dior executives have chosen Belgian designer Kris Van Assche as his replacement. Van Assche has worked with Hedi Slimane previously at Dior Homme and Yves Saint Laurent. His namesake collection premiered at Paris Fall/Winter 2005 collections. While his first collection was widely praised his last two collections have struggled to please the critics, including myself.
Although I am happy to see Slimane go, the innovation of the Womens line was never shared with Slimane, He tended to keep to his signature look and not shape the line by Dior’s standard. That skinny leg pant is slowing disappearing but Slimane won’t give up a good thing. Hopefully his own label will give him the freedom he needs. Fingers crossed for Van Assche!
Brothers Harvey and Bob Weinstein are getting into the fashion business. WWD reported this afternoon that the Weinstein Company is joining forces with Hilco Consumer Capital to purchase the Halston Brand. Is Mr. Weinstein purchasing the brand for his girlfriend Georgina Chapman to take over and become its new creative director? Well, maybe it does take a woman to revive the brand. Just look at the designers who’ve attempted a revival of this iconic brand. Randolph Duke, Kevan Hall, Craig Natiello and Piyawat only lasted two seasons or less. That’s barely a year! Designer Bradley Bayou took over in late 2002. He was able to last 4 seasons with the brand before he was handed his own label. The clothing arm of the brand has not seen the success it once inhabited since the 70’s. Could Georgina be the answer, she does have impeccable sense for draping.
Designer Yves Saint Laurent collapsed outside his Paris Boutique and Atelier on Friday. The designer has had medical problems the last 15 years. The news broke in Paris and the Evening Standard in London had this to say about the designer. So many unrelated statements were made about the designer in the article. While I hope Monsieur Saint Laurent recovers, I fell on the floor laughing when I read this statement by the Evening Standard:
I hate it when journalists write about things they have no idea about, spell checkers miss easy words and fact checkers don't do their job! Then again one could easily say this is all apart of the propaganda wheel to paint homosexuals as straights. I'd rather they just keep the girlfriend comment out entirely.
I won't post that nasty picture out of respect to Monsieur Saint Laurent! We wish you a speedy recovery - Love the Blog World!!!!

WWD reported this morning that Oliver Theyskens is in the process of signing a contract with the House of Nina Ricci. Earlier this month Ricci designer Lars Nilsson handed in his resignation as creative director. Currently Nilsson is in talks of permanently returning to New York, no further details have become available regarding the deal. Although WWD reported “Oscar de la Renta executives have denied that Nilsson is joining the company.” Previously Nilsson was the creative director for Bill Blass from 2000-2003 until he was fired.
This is great news for Theyskens, while he is not getting his own label. The post at Nina Ricci is not a far jump (in terms of design) for the designer. This will give Olivier more time to build his skills as well as his following. According WWD the design team at Nina Ricci will continue work on the S/S 07’ collection, although there will be no for show of the collection. Theyskens will take over reigns of the F/W 07 collection, which will show next March. See everything works out in the end!
Since April, Fashion Television has been loading podcasts of their archived segments. Initially they were posting a few podcasts each week, now they have shifted to the Fashion Television Daily Podcast. Check out the recent posting of Jeanne Becker’s segment on Galliano's F/W 06 collection, and you thought she was all sweet and nice. The show was a pain. period. I opted to not post a review. click the image below to start downloading.......
As John Galliano once stated to Jeanne Becker, "Ain't Nothing Natural at Galliano" - this little montage of Galliano's post show is bows anything but modest. Enjoy!!!!
Over at YouTube - Alexander McQueen's short film "Deconstruction" Has been posted. Here it is!
I guess one of the big trends for Spring/Summer 2007 could have been used for Summer 2006. And G.BUSH said "Their's No Such Thang As Globil' Warmin'!"

What is everyone talking about in Milan........Scott Schuman "The Satorialist" - several insiders and bloggers are commenting on his new venture with Men Style.com Congrats Scott! This really is the new wave of capturing the world of fashion.

Is this the end of Actors and celebrities on the covers of magazines and heading multi-million dollar ad campaigns?
Hello Magazine captured Christy Turlington on the streets of New York City, shooting a new ad campaign for Maybelline. Christy’s contract with the cosmetic giant expired in 1998, although her ads ran until 2001. Maybelline is known to be faithful to the model industry by only using one celebrity at a time (currently Kristin Davis). Compared to it competitor Revlon, who knocked models off it's campaigns in the 90's for Melanie Griffiths, Selma Hayek, Halle Berry, Julianne Moore and Eva Mendes.
Another big blow to the celebrity headed ad campaigns, Designer Donatella Versace sacked Demi Moore, Halle Berry and Madonna for her Fall Campaign. At A Socialites Life, we got word that Donatella has brought back Versace Icon’s Christy Turlington, Carolyn Murphy and Kate Moss to join newcomers Daria Werbowy & Angela Lindvall. Now that’s going to be a smokin’ Ad Campaign. No word still as to who will be shooting the campaign. Rumor has it though it’s all being shot in a studio in New York. Keep in mind there was no “City” after the “NY” – Irving Penn’s studio is in the state of New York! But Penn is turning 89 next month. WOW!!!!! Amazing!
Bravo Maybelline & Versace, I hope this will fuel change in the industry and push the celebrities out and focus on the models again. This means that the modeling industry need to make another movement toward unique looking models and no more cookie cutters (i.e. all baby doll faces or all Brazilian’s). Maybe She's Born With It?

WWD Reports that the Prada Group is selling Jil Sander brand to Change Capital Partners. This news comes only days after designer Raf Simons shows his first women's collection for the Sander brand. Over the past 5 years since Jil Sander herself left her her namesake and sold the controlling interest to the Prada Group. The Milan based label has struggled to find a successful successor to Sander herself. Things were so bad that Prada even paid Sanders to return to her post, which only last two seasons due to contract disputes. Interestingly enough, the current head designer, Raf Simons. Has really started to get a grasp of the label and won critics and buyers with his recent men's and women's shows for Fall.

Alexander McQueen's new footwear line with Puma is do out this month. More than likely they will release the collection - coinciding with London Fashion Week which begins Sunday, Feb. 12th.....For now - Puma has their official site for the McQueen's line ManCat.
So with one episode left of the Project Runway before the final 3 have chossen. The secrets were kept tight this season, filming was to complete in early September of last year. Then came the knews during production that NY Fashion Week was being rescheduled for the Fall shows. So due to the time constraint, producers showed the final 4 designers. So those attending the Bryant Park Fashion show don't know who the final 3 are - keeping the integrity of the final episode. I didn't think Kara's was the best.
Rumor has it that Chloe is not in the final 3! Judging from her frown while introducing her collection, compared to Daniel, Satino & Kara's all smiles, maybe it's true.
Over at the MADE IN BRAZIL blog, they had friend with a video camera at the show - enjoy the fotage - View It Here
